A Greater Applegate (AGA) is a community-building organization serving the Applegate Valley. Guided by local residents, AGA gathers community needs, ideas, and perspectives through surveys, listening sessions, outreach events, and other opportunities for participation. Our goal is to turn community values, vision, and voices into action.
The Applegate Valley follows the Applegate River from its headwaters in the Siskiyou Mountains of Jackson County to its confluence with the Rogue River in Josephine County. Its many distinct neighborhoods include Little Applegate, Upper Applegate, North Applegate, Carberry Creek, Humbug Creek, Sterling Creek, Thompson Creek, Provolt, Williams, Wilderville, and others.
The AGA Board of Directors meets from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday of every other month: January, March, May, July, September, and November. Meetings are held at the AGA office. What is A Greater Applegate?
Greater Applegate (AGA) is the community-building organization serving the Applegate Valley. A Greater Applegate is a place where community values, community vision, and community voices lead to community action.
As the only community-building organization in the 500-square mile Applegate Valley, AGA advances rural economic vitality and social resilience via the expansion of an “Applegate Valley” identity, facilitating community-led action, and building skills and networks.
Where is the Applegate Valley?
The Applegate Valley is defined geographically by the Applegate River. The river’s headwaters flow from the Siskiyou Mountains of Jackson County to its confluence with the Rogue River in Josephine County. Numerous tributaries define the various Applegate Valley “neighborhoods”—including Little Applegate, Upper Applegate, North Applegate, Carberry Creek, Humbug Creek, Sterling Creek, Thompson Creek, Provolt, Williams, Wilderville, and others. Neighborhoods along each of these tributaries are both distinct and part of the larger Applegate Valley community.
