SUMMARY:Sharing the Trail Safely
LOCATION:
DESCRIPTION:Provolt Volunteer Team is hosting a free multi-use trail safety event, “Sharing the Trails”, at the Provolt Recreation Site. Public lands offer all of us the joys of recreating in the great outdoors. This event explains equine nature and how to have a safe and pleasant encounter when on the trails. There will be two live animal demonstrations are offered with fun and prizes on Saturday, September 28th beginning at 10:45 and 12:45. Imagine you are ambling along the River Walk Trail at Provolt or jogging along the ditch trail up in the mountains when suddenly you encounter a horse and rider. You know your own heartbeat may quicken but what does a horse sense when it sees a runner heading toward them on the trail ? What are their instincts when a bicycle fast approaches them from behind ? Through interactive and informative presentations by the Sourdough Chapter of Backcountry Horsemen you can learn how best to share the trails safely with our large four-legged friends. Local trail support groups will also be on hand with information about where to stretch your legs here in the Applegate Valley.
