A Greater Applegate is working with different segments of the community to develop a long-term community vision and provide platforms for the community’s needs and ideas to be seen and brought into focus.  In 2016-17 A Greater Applegate, then known as the GACDC, collaborated with Rural Development Initiatives for the Applegate Valley Economic Vitality Roadmap. The Roadmap clarified the need for more in-depth listening, learning, and community visioning to be facilitated by a backbone organization. AGA has successfully grown our internal capacity to take on this role with networks of nonprofits, businesses, and neighborhood, culminating in a “20/20 vision.”

Applegate Valley Nonprofit Network

A Greater Applegate supports nonprofit and community-based organizations in the Applegate Valley to carry out their missions and community work through the Applegate Valley Nonprofit Network.  Meeting quarterly, we learn from each other and pursue collective interests. Watch our Facebook page for invitations to future meetings.

Neighborhood Networks

This Fall, A Greater Applegate is working with leaders in 10 neighborhoods to host neighborhood-based gatherings to learn about local assets, challenges, opportunities, and needs.  Our goal is to hear from 250 residents over the coming year through Neighborhood Engagement gatherings.  This work will inform our Community Vision 20/20 plan while strengthening neighborhoods across the watershed.   For more information, email info@agreaterapplegate.org.

Applegate Valley Business Network

A Greater Applegate is launching the Applegate Valley Business Network on November 12, 2019 at the Applegate River Lodge.  This is a new opportunity for local businesses to meet each other, share how we might work together to build an Applegate Valley brand, and strengthen the local economy in ways consistent with local values. If you are a business owner interested in learning more or being part of the steering committee, please email info@agreaterapplegate.org today.

Community Vision 20/20

In 2020, A Greater Applegate will launch Community Vision 20/20 to engage over 500 Applegate Valley community residents, visitors, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in a conversation about our collective vision for our region. Informed by the work in neighborhoods and the nonprofit and business networks, participants will help us map a vision and plan for the Applegate Valley to guide our future work and to share with local and statewide leaders to inform their activities in our region.   Look for details coming in the new year.

Applegate Valley Connect Website

Applegate Valley Connect is aligned with a statewide effort—conceived by Community Systems LLC and funded by The Ford Family Foundation—to promote community and communication in rural areas. It is a collaboration between A Greater Applegate and the Applegater Newsmagazine. This website is a communication and resource hub for all residents of the valley to learn more about their neighbors and neighboring communities, foster greater community involvement, encourage local economic activity, and promote greater self-reliance.

The intent of this website is to become the primary connection and source of information about what’s going on, where you can find services, and who’s doing what throughout the Applegate Valley. Our goal is to strengthen the network among Applegate Valley neighbors, visitors, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government officials and work toward a more informed and connected regional community.
